Inland Bank (Nigeria) Plc was incorporated on 20 April 1988 as a privated limited liability Company. It commenced business operation in October 1988 and was converted to public limited liability company in June 1992. In 2005, the bank went into a merger arrangement with former First Atlantic Bank Plc, IMB International Bank Plc and NUB International Bank Ltd to form First Inland Bank Plc. The shares of the new bank, First Inland Bank Plc are quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The consolidated bank, First Inland Bank Plc, now operates with Inland Bank Plc's banking licence.
