The company was incorporated on the 26th March, 1969 as Nigeria Exchange Insurance Limited. The name was changed to Mutual Life and General Insurance Limited in 1995. In the year, 2000, the name of the company was changed to Global Assurance Limited. In 2003, 70% of the shares of Global Assurance Limited were acquired by SKI Consult with the name changed to International Energy Insurance Company Limited. The company merged its operation with Rivbank Insurance Limited on 30th November, 2006 with the name of the combined business changing to International Energy Insurance Plc. The company was subsequently listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2007. The company engages in the business of providing non-life insurance for individuals and registered companies.
