Oceanic Bank International Plc was incorporated in Nigeria on 26 March, 1990 under the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 1990 as a private limited liability company. The bank was granted license on 10 April, 1990 to carry on commercial banking. The bank, in readiness for listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, converted to a public limited liability company on 4 March, 2004 and was listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange by way of introduction on 25 June, 2004. The bank is wholly owned by Nigerian citizens.
