The company was incorporated on 6 November, 1992 as a private company limited by shares to carry on mortgage banking business by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. It commenced operations on 22 August, 1994 became a public limited liability company on 14 February, 2006 and listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on 24 April, 2006.
