Union Bank of Nigeria Plc commenced operations in Nigeria in 1917 as a branch of Barclays Bank Dominion Colonial Overseas (DCO) and was incorporated as a Private Company Limited by Shares in Nigeria in1969. It became a Public Limited Company Limited by Shares in 1970 with the Bank's Shares quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchnage. The principal activity of the Bank is the provision of banking and related financial services to corporate and individual customers. Such services include the granting of loans and advance, acceptance of deposits and money market activites.
